The Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) has announced rulings on nine idle land parcels or property projects, guandian.cn reported March 12. Among the publicized decisions, China Resources Land (1109.HK) was told to break ground on its planned Beijing project before March 31, 2010 while China Overseas Land & Investment (COLI) (0688.HK) has been fined for leaving land idle in Changchun, Jilin province and ordered to start construction immediately...

The Shanghai Composite Index retreated 1.24% to close at 3,013.41, while the Shenzhen Composite Index fell 1.38% to end at 1,147.44 on Friday, March 12. Trading volumes on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges were RMB 84.35 billion and RMB 68.93 billion, respectively.

Baidu (Nasdaq:BIDU) expects to release the business-to-consumer (B2C) online shopping mall that it is building in cooperation with Japan's Rakuten (Jasdaq:[b]4755[b/]) in mid-2010, if everything goes smoothly, reports Sina quoting Baidu Vice President Ren Xuyang on March 12.

Reports in late January said that Baidu had partnered with Rakuten to build the mall and expected to release the mall in late 2010.
