MOFCOM Releases E-commerce Report for '08-'09

China's e-commerce trading volume reached RMB 3.1 trillion in 2008 and RMB 3.8 trillion in 2009, according to a report released by the country's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on August 30. Online shopping trading volume in the two years amounted to RMB 125.7 billion and RMB 258.6 billion, respectively, according to the MOFCOM report.

Adidas (ETR:ADS) has opened an online store on domestic e-commerce site Taobao.com, caing.com reported August 17.
According to the report, Taobao.com currently has more than 200 million registered users and recorded a transaction volume of RMB 200 billion in 2009, of which more than RMB 8 billion was spent on sports products, while in the first seven months of 2010, sports goods transactions have reached RMB 7 billion.
