Online software "The World Browser" announced January 12 that it has received an investment in the tens of millions to develop a new product, reported 163.com. The funding comes from a free software plan, part of an investment project in Internet start-ups initiated by Qihoo, Sequoia Capital and Highland Capital.

China Yahoo, online video and advertising company VODone (0082.HK), real estate website Soufun and Beijing-based Internet company Qihoo were among the ten companies cited by the China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre (CIIRC) on November 6 as the latest carriers of content that "violates social morals" and "harms the physical and psychological health of young people" on their wireless application protocol sites, people.com reported on November 6.
CIIRC announced its first batch of 19 violating sites, including Baidu (Nasdaq:BIDU), Google (Nasdaq:GOOG[b]) China, Sina (Nasdaq:[b]SINA), Sohu (Nasdaq:SOHU), Tencent (0700.HK) and NetEase (Nasdaq:NTES) in January. |

The Ministry of Public Security announced September 2 it will "restore" eight online advertisement agencies, including Beijing-based Internet company Qihoo's advertising union, for running advertisements for porn sites.

China Yahoo told JLM Pacific Epoch on Monday that it has abandoned its "real domain name" service 3721.com. Yesterday, a Sina report said the site was already inaccessible. Former Alibaba Group and China Yahoo vice president Jasmine Shen said in early December that China Yahoo planned to shrink its business and focus on daily life information site koubei.com, which it merged with on June 1.
