Joy.cn Sues 56.com in Video Sharing Suit

Online video sharing site Joy.cn is seeking RMB 270,000 in damages from three operators of 56.com for copyright infringement in Beijing Chaoyang District Court, according to The Beijing News. The three operators, Guangzhou Qianjun Network Technology Company, Beijing Wole Information Technology Company and Guangzhou Wole Information Technology Company, are accused of hosting Guangzhou-based 56.com¡¯s broadcasts of ¡°If You Are the One¡± and ¡°Run Papa Run¡± in February, two films to which Joy.cn owns exclusive online broadcasting rights.
In addition to financial compensation, Megadia Communications, which operates Joy.cn, is looking for an immediate halt to broadcasts of the movies as well as a an apology run for a period of ten days on China Film News.
