Alibaba.com's (1688.HK) wholesale e-commerce site 1688.com will launch a channel for industrial equipment at mro.1688.com on June 30, ccidnet.com reported June 29. The new channel offers 23 categories of goods including machinery, electronics, hand tools and security system components and offer 62% discounts on its opening day, according to the report.

Alibaba.com (1688.HK) has formally launched AliExpress, an e-commerce platform offering smaller-quantity orders, instant online transactions, and an escrow service, the company reported April 25. Alibaba.com said it will invest more than $100 million in developing AliExpress.

March reports said Alibaba.com had secured a preliminary agreement with eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) online payment tool PayPal for the AliExpress service.

Hangzhou-based business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce site Alibaba.com (1688.HK) launched a wholesale e-commerce site at 1688.com on March 8, pcpop.com reports. The new site shows Alibaba.com's Chinese-language page, DoNews reported the same day.
