Taobao Sets Up Beijing Subsidiary
Alibaba's consumer-focused e-commerce site Taobao.com said July 8 that it has officially established a Beijing subsidiary headed by General Manager Wu Yongming, reports Sina. The subsidiary will have a staff of more than 300, said the report. Formerly general manager of online advertising exchange platform Alimama, Wu became a Taobao vice president in charge of Alimama business after Alimama and Taobao merged in September 2008.
Reports last October said that Taobao planned to move its search department from Hangzhou to Beijing's Zhongguancun area.
