China Mobile to Release 188- Numbers, Cuts GRPS Fees by 2/3
China Mobile (NYSE:CHL, 941.HK) subsidiary Guangdong Mobile plans to release TD-SCDMA numbers with the "188" header starting January 8, reports Sohu. The lucky numbers can be purchased with eight TD-SCDMA monthly plans ranging from RMB 98-268 for 150MB of traffic; RMB 388 or RMB 488 for 500MB; and RMB 588, RMB 988 and RMB 1,688 for 1GB, 2GB, 5GB, respectively. China Mobile is expected to begin official commercial operation of the TD-SCDMA network in January, reports Shenzhen Economic Daily.
China Mobile cut GPRS fees by as much as two-thirds in most domestic cities this month, reports Sohu. Shanghai Mobile users can now pay RMB 5 per month for 30MB, rather than the RMB 5, 10 MB package originally available, while RMB 20 per month gets 150MB, also three times more than before. The aforementioned pricing is available to "Gotone," "M-Zone" and some "Easyown" users in Beijing, said the report.
