Ministry to Sponsor Massive PV Base in LDK Hometown
China's Ministry of Science and Technology recently announced that it plans to build up Xinyu, Jiangxi province, as a national demonstration city for new energy technology, China Energy News reported February 8. Over the next three years, Xinyu intends to construct the world's largest photovoltaic industry base and magnetically levitated wind turbine technology base, said the report.
LDK Solar (NYSE:LDK), a multicrystalline wafer maker that is headquartered in Xinyu, has recorded wafer production capacity of 2.2GW, making it the world's largest wafer producer, the report said.
