Shanghai-based online video site Tudou.com plans to begin charging for some video content next year, TechWeb reported November 12 quoting site Chief Content Officer Weiming Jiang.

Jiang also revealed that Tudou plans to share profit from its exclusive contract as a content provider for China Mobile's (NYSE:CHL,0941.HK) mobile video "originality channel" with China Mobile and China Central Television's CCTV.com. Tudou has also partnered with the China Film Group Corporation to produce "Mr. Lei," an original program that will be premiered on the mobile channel, reports Sina.

Video site 56.com said in July that it is drawing up plans to charge its individual users in the future, in addition to the site's current ad revenue model.
