Cree to Spend $50m on Guangdong LED Plant

U.S.-based semiconductor developer and manufacturer Cree Inc. (Nasdaq:CREE) has signed an agreement with Huizhou municipal government in Guangdong province to invest an initial $50 million in an LED chip project in the city, chinanews.com reported November 10. The project, Cree's first in China is expected to come online by mid-2010, the report said.
