China is in the process of issuing subsidies of RMB 13 per watt for rooftop-based photovoltaic projects, reports China Business News quoting an executive from module maker Suntech Power Holdings (NYSE:STP).

Nationwide, 111 rooftop-based or building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) projects with a combined capacity of 91MW have been allocated subsidies totaling nearly RMB 1.3 billion, said the report.

China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development announced a stimulus plan for BIPV applications in mid-April, offering RMB 20/watt for construction material- and component-based BIPV projects and RMB 15/watt for rooftop- and wall-based projects.

China plans to subsidize a total of 500MW under its "Golden Sun" program within three years, said the report.
