Hohhot Zhonghuan PV Material expects to start trial production in the first of four phases of an RMB 2.5 billion monocrystalline ingot and wafer production base in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia in November, reports solarbe.com. The first phase is invested with RMB 420 million and will have annual ingot and wafer capacity of 380 metric tons, said the report.

Reports in March said that, when completed, the base is expected to have annual ingot and wafer capacity of between 800MW and 1GW. Hohhot Zhonghuan PV Material is a joint venture between Shanghai Aerospace Automobile Electromechanical (600151.SH) and Tianjin Huanou Semiconductor Material Technology.
