MIIT: IT Import/Export, Software Growth Slides

China's imports of IT products fell 22.11% year-on-year to $219.76 billion in the first nine months of this year, while the country's IT product exports decreased 19.86% year-on-year to $312.38 billion, according to data released October 29 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The annual decline in IT product imports outpaced the slide in China's total imports in the period by 1.71 percentage points, while the rate of decline of IT exports marked a 1.44 percentage points improvement on the decline in the country's overall exports.

Chinese software industry revenues grew 20.3% year-on-year to RMB 677.5 billion in the first nine months of 2009. The industry brought in RMB 88.4 billion in the month of September, up 15.6% year-on-year. Sales of software products generated RMB 236.67 billion over the nine month period, up 21.1% year-on-year, while technology services revenue reached RMB 148.3 billion, growing 28.5% year-on-year.
