Li Riqianq, the project chief for NetEase's (Nasdaq:NTES) licensed 3D MMORPG World of Warcraft (WoW), said Tuesday that the game's resumption of commercial operations complies with government directives, but refused to answer other questions, Sina reports. WoW resumed commercial operation on Saturday; according to an unnamed source, NetEase did not have permission from the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) to release the game, Sina reported. NetEase submitted a revised version of the game to GAPP in late July after receiving approval from China's Ministry of Culture.

Sources say GAPP considers the game's commercial operation to be illegal and may penalize NetEase, Sohu reported. GAPP and the MoC are now negotiating their approach to the case, the report said.
