NetEase (Nasdaq:NTES) plans to offer free play to existing gamers of its licensed 3D MMORPG World of Warcraft (WoW) between September 6 and September 14, after completing WoW closed beta on September 5, the company said. NetEase will open registration immediately if WoW receives government approval before September 14, but will not offer free play to new gamers, according to the company's September 5 announcement.

Former WoW operator The9 (Nasdaq:NCTY) has decided to extend its refund period for unconsumed (ie, fully-unused) prepaid cards, originally scheduled to end on September 7, by one month, reports 21st Century Business Herald. The9 announced in June that it would refund unconsumed prepaid WoW cards and not-yet-delivered security tokens in cash through Alibaba Group's online payment subsidiary Alipay between June 7 and September 7.
