Research in Motion Confirms China Pres, Subsidiary

Canada's Research In Motion (Nasdaq:RIMM) confirmed that RIM Asia Pacific Vice President of Government Affairs Gregory Shea has taken on an additional role as China region president, reports Sina. RIM also said that it recently established a China subsidiary. RIM China is headquartered in Beijing and also has offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

In June, an unnamed source said that RIM was in negotiations with China Telecom (NYSE:CHA, 728.HK) to offer BlackBerry handsets in China. RIM has already teamed up with China Mobile (NYSE:CHL, 941.HK) to offer BlackBerry handsets and China mobile email service.
