Blizzard CEO: Disputed JV Not WoW Operator

According to Blizzard Entertainment co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime, the joint venture formed between Blizzard and NetEase (Nasdaq:NTES) will focus on providing technical support to 3D MMORPG World of Warcraft (WoW) and will not be involved in other aspects of operation, reports Sohu. This was Morhaime's first response on the legality of the venture, the report said.

Former WoW operator The9 (Nasdaq:NCTY) has claimed that the JV was established to operate several Blizzard games. China forbids foreign companies from operating online games domestically through a joint venture or sole investment, and previous reports said related government departments had launched an inquiry into the JV.
