Sina Tests Micro-Blogging Service
Sina (Nasdaq:SINA) is developing a micro-blogging service at t.sina.com.cn and has started internal testing, Sohu reported August 19. Testing will be for around 500 users, the majority of whom will be Sina employees, the report said. The service allows users to publish short messages and upload photos from computers or mobile phones, the report said.
Rumors in May said Sina plans to release a twitter-alike service around June named "Sina Friends." The portal subsequently began closed beta testing of a social networking service (SNS) called "Sina Friends" on May 20.
Tencent's (0700.HK) micro-blogging service Taotao has 40 million users, said the report.
