On August 13, China Unicom's (NYSE:CHU, 0762.HK, 600050.SH) Guangdong subsidiary denied information about the Apple (Nasdaq:AAPL) iPhone that was published in an August 12 China Business News report quoting Guangdong Unicom managers, reports 163.com.

The China Business News article cited Guangdong Unicom managers, including Vice General Manager Zhou Youmeng and Individual Client Department Manager Yu Zaonan, as saying that the first batch of WCDMA iPhones would hit stores in September; Unicom has purchased 5 million WCDMA iPhones for a price of RMB 2,000 per handset; and Unicom plans to price the 8G iPhone around RMB 2,400 and the 16G phone around RMB 4,800.

The managers did not give information about the iPhone to the media or other sources, Guangdong Unicom said. The article's author, Zhou Fang, denied the charges, saying he had made audio recordings of the interviews, according to the report.
