China Doubles Wind Capacity From '08 to '09
China had 11.81GW of on-grid installed wind power capacity at the end of the first half of this year, up 101% from the country's capacity a year ago, ce5e.cn reported July 31. According to State Grid Vice General Manager Shu Yinbiao, China purchased 12.8 billion kWh of on-grid new energy in the first six months of the year, up 105% year-on-year, said the report.
Previous reports said China's new energy installed capacity by 2020 should reach 290GW, or 17% of the country's total capacity, of which wind would account for 150GW.
