Insider: China Telecom Eyes BlackBerries
An unnamed source disclosed that China Telecom (NYSE:CHA, 728.HK) is in negotiations with Canada's Research In Motion (RIM) to offer BlackBerry handsets in China, reports Beijing Business Today. RIM has already partnered with China Mobile (NYSE:CHL, 941.HK) to offer BlackBerry handsets and mobile email services in China with a minimum charge of RMB 398 per month, the report said. The first batch of BlackBerry handsets in China were manufactured by TCL Group (000100.SZ) subsidiary TCL Communication (2618.HK), said the report.
