Qinghai Approves Solar Development Plan

The Qinghai provincial government has approved its 2009-2015 plan for solar industry development and application including 13 projects and targeting annual industry sales revenue of RMB 86 billion by the end of 2015, reports qhnews.com. The 13 projects include:

-- Second- and third-phase polysilicon projects of Asia Silicon and Huanghe Hydropower Development, with total investment and sales revenue expected to reach RMB 15 billion and RMB 21 billion, respectively
-- Second-phase silicon ingot and wafer projects of companies including Qinghai Huagui Energy Co. Ltd, with total investment and sales revenue expected to reach RMB 9 billion and RMB 35 billion, respectively
-- Crystalline silicon cell projects, with total investment and sales revenue expected to reach RMB 2 billion and RMB 15 billion, respectively
-- Solar module projects of companies including Qinghai Suntech Nima Solar Power, a holding company of Wuxi Suntech, with total investment and sales revenue expected to reach RMB 300 million and RMB 8.5 billion, respectively
-- Building-integrated photovoltaic and solar lighting projects, with total investment expected to reach RMB 3 billion
-- One on-grid crystalline and amorphous silicon photovoltaic (PV) station jointly established by China Technology Development Group Corporation (Nasdaq:CTDC) and others, with total investment and sales revenue expected to reach RMB 1 billion and RMB 200 million, respectively
-- One on-grid amorphous silicon PV station jointly established by GS Solar and others, with estimated investment of RMB 300 million
-- Two on-grid PV stations in Xining and Sanjiangyuan, with estimated investment of RMB 1.2 billion
-- Three to four on-grid desert PV stations in areas including Qaidam Basin, with estimated investment of RMB 28.5 billion.
