Sohu Sues Over "My Youthfulness"
Sohu (Nasdaq:SOHU) and Chinese director Zhao Baogang held a meeting on April 29 to announce that Sohu owns exclusive online broadcasting rights to Zhao's new TV series "My Youthfulness" in mainland China. Sohu said it sent notices to companies offering the series without permission and has filed lawsuits against companies including Shenzhen-based download software provider Xunlei and online video sites Ku6.com and 56.com for continuing to broadcast the show after the warning.
56.com told DoNews the same day that it deleted related content as soon as it received notification from Sohu. Ku6.com said it was not notified by Sohu but did delete links after learning of the issue, reported DoNews. Xunlei told media it was unaware of the issue and made no comment.
Sohu recorded 25 million views for the series 10 days after it was released on the company's high-definition TV channel.
