Sohu, Haier Partner for HDTV Channel
Sohu (Nasdaq:SOHU) plans to provide content for a high-definition TV channel through a partnership with Qingdao-based home appliance manufacturer Haier (1169.HK, 600690.SH), reports Beijing Morning Post. Haier will release a new TV in April that costs a few hundred yuan more than similar-sized products and is embedded with a network module card. The channel will offer 40,000 TV series and movies, add 1,000 episodes every day and use the Sohu logo as its symbol. Initially, the programs will be free of charge and of advertising, said a related Sohu chief.
