Solar Giants Propose New RMB 1/kWh Pricing

Photovoltaic (PV) product manufacturers including Suntech Power Holdings (NYSE:STP), LDK Solar (NYSE:LDK), Canadian Solar Inc. (Nasdaq:CSIQ) and Trina Solar (NYSE:TSL) have submitted a plan to price solar energy at RMB 1/kWh to the Ministry of Science and Technology, reports 21st Century Business Herald quoting a solar company executive. The plan was approved by the manufacturers at a PV industry meeting on December 18, 2008 and finalized by Suntech and Trina Solar, said the report. China's National Development and Reform Commission previously fixed prices at RMB 4/kWh including taxes for on-grid power produced by an Inner Mongolia and a Shanghai project on July 21, 2008.
