Beijing's Online Game Industry 3.75M Gamers, 87,000 Employees Strong
Beijing has 3.75 million gamers and 41 large- and medium-sized game companies that employ 87,200 people, reports 163.com quoting Beijing Municipal Publicity Department vice director Chen Dong. Revenue from online gaming in Beijing reached RMB 2.25 billion in 2007, an industry revenue total that was second only to finance in the service sector, Chen said.
Beijing accounts for 17.2% of the nation's total game output value, while 70% of China's original PC games, 50% of online games and 60% of mobile games come from the city, said Chen.
